How to manage feelings of loneliness during valentines day.

Valentine's day is a special time for many people. It is a time to celebrate love and intimacy. However, for some people, it can also be a time when they feel lonely and isolated.

Here are some tips for managing these feelings of loneliness this valentines day:

1. Be intentional in connecting with your support system, aka loved ones. Spending time with friends, family, and other loved ones is a great way to combat loneliness. Make sure you make time for people you love this valentines day.

If you have nobody to spend the day with, why not organize a social gathering or host a dinner party at home? This can be an excellent opportunity to spend time with the people you care about and meet new people. Don't be afraid to reach out to new people, too - you never know who you might encounter.

2. Do something nice for yourself. This Valentine's day, make sure you take time out for yourself. Try to relax and take the time to do something that you enjoy. Treat yourself to a massage, curl up with a good book, or watch a movie yourself. Spending time alone can help you feel more relaxed and open new opportunities for friendship and romance.

3. Volunteer with an organization

Find an organization that means a lot to you and share your time with them. This could be as simple as helping someone with shopping or giving them company over a cu

p of coffee. You'd be surprised at how good you will feel after helping others; it might even lead to a new friend or love interest!

4. Reduce time on social media. I understand how easy it is to start comparing your life to others; if this is you, please be mindful of how much you are scrolling and how that is beginning to make you feel. This is a gentle reminder that everyone is on

their journey, and it's okay that it looks different from yours. Your experience or journey isn't any less significant because it does not look like someone else's.

5. Reach out to a therapist if you find yourself struggling today. Today is the perfect day to start your journey.

Overall I want to encourage you to resist the urge to isolate. It's easy to become overly consumed with negative thoughts and messages about yourself, especially when today doesn't look like social media says it should. Check in with your support system or those individuals who pour into you daily. That is love that is worth recognizing and celebrating as well.
